Excimer Laser for psoriasis and vitiligo

Cary Dermatology has been named to the Circle of Excellence for exhibiting Mastery in the 2015 XTRAC Excimer Laser program for the treatment of psoriasis and vitiligo.

Sometimes one or two stubborn psoriatic plaques remain even when the majority of the skin is clear.  Using a localized source of laser light can clear those plaques without subjecting the entire skin surface to the ultraviolet rays.  Scalp psoriasis also does well with excimer since it can be focused on the scalp when the hair is parted out of the way.  Many insurance plans will cover Excimer for psoriasis.

Vitiligo, especially in younger people responds well to the Excimer laser, but it takes time.  We have seen  complete repigmentation of facial skin in many patients and improvement all over the body, with bony areas showing the most resistence to therapy.  Some insurance plans have covered vitiligo treatment if the patient appeals the initial  insurance denial.

Call today for a consultation.  If you are a candidate for light therapy using the escimer laser, we can ask for prior apporval from insurance before you decide to undergo treatment.  If you have extensive psoriasis, we also have a full body narrow band light therapy box and our providers treat with all the latest psoriasis therapies as well.
