Cary Dermatology pierces the earlobe only with Blomdahl hypoallergenic and sterile earrings . This decreases the chance of developing a nickel allergy. We will pierce earlobes of babies until they are 11 months old, and those of other children age 10 and older. In our experience, young children are too afraid of the procedure and will not sit still for both ears.
Adults who have had problems in the past may do well with our earrings. But, people with a history of keloids can still have problems even with hypoallergenic earrings.
We do not pierce cartilage (the top part of the ear or the tragus).
